Nintendo recently confirmed rumors that a new home gaming console was in the works and is slated to debut at the upcoming E3 Expo in Los Angeles.
In a short note, Nintendo offered no information about the upcoming console's name or specifications. However, it did state that the console would launch some time next year.
"We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7 [through] 9, 2011, in Los Angeles," the company stated.
When the console arrives next year, gamers will be able to hook it up to an HDTV, an LED monitor or an HDMI projector to experience the action in pristine, high-definition quality.
Last week, video game news provider IGN reported a number of details apparently leaked by a source familiar with Nintendo's project. According to IGN, the new console with cost between $350 and $400, feature a triple-core processor and will be roughly the size the the original Xbox 360.
