Electronic Art's follow-up to the futuristic first-person shooter Crysis hits shelves this week, and it already has gamers and reviewers buzzing with excitement.
Developed by Crytek, Crysis 2 takes place in New York City in the not-too-distant future of 2023. However, gone are the bright lights of Broadway, replaced with an alien-ravaged urban jungle and a playground of dilapidated structures.
Gamers assume control of the Force Recon Marine who goes by the name Alcatraz. The protagonist dons a nanosuit that enhances his speed, strength and stealth abilities. The nanosuit, coupled with an impressive array of firepower, enables Alcatraz to hold his own against the invading alien hordes.
Both Cyrsis 2 and its predecessor have been lauded by critics for their impressive visual effects. Available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, gamers can get the most out of the graphics by connecting their gaming console to an HDTV, LED monitor or
DLP projector.
In a recent review, IGN awarded the game an "Amazing" 9.0 rating, praising its graphics, sound effects and captivating multiplayer mode. The reviewer proclaimed Crysis 2 for the Xbox 360 has "taken the crown for best graphics in a console game."
