Only five months since its release, Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops has already become the best-selling game in U.S. history, according to recent figures from the NPD Group.
With 13.7 million units sold in the United States, the first-person shooter has surpassed Nintendo's Wii Play and can currently be found in one out of every eight homes in the country, according to estimates by IGN.com.
The seventh installment of the Call of Duty series, Black Ops follows the story of special forces operatives as they battle terrorists - and occasionally zombies - behind enemy lines. Heralded for its intense action and detailed urban environments, the game's graphics can be best enjoyed by connecting the gaming console to an HDTV, LED monitor or HDMI projector.
Activision has apparently found a recipe for success with its Call of Duty series. According to NPD Group figures, the series currently makes up three of the top 10 best-selling games in the Unites States, including Modern Warfare 2 at No. 3 and Modern Warfare at No. 7.
