Microsoft recently announced it has found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records by selling more than 10 million Kinect units for the Xbox 360 since its launch in November.
According to Microsoft, Kinect has been officially named the fastest-selling consumer electronics device by Guinness World Records, selling an average of 133,333 units per day and 8 million units in its first 60 days on the market.
"The sales figures here speak for themselves," said Guinness World Records gaming editor Gaz Deavees. "According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."
The Kinect motion sensor allows Xbox 360 owners to experience completely hands-free gaming by responding to body movements and voice commands. Gamers who want to get the most out of their Kinect units can run their Xbox in conjunction with an HDTV, LED monitor or HDMI projector to display video in high definition.
In addition to Kinect sales, Microsoft announced more than 10 million Kinect games have sold worldwide, including titles from Microsoft and third-party vendors.
