On Wednesday, Epic Games, makers of Bulletstorm, Batman: Arkham Asylum and the popular Gears of War franchise, announced the release date for the lastest installment in the series. Gears of War 3 will hit stores on September 20.
Originally, many expected the game to be available worldwide in April; however, Bulletstorm owners can survive the five-month delay easier than others, as the game contains access to the upcoming Gears of War 3 beta, similar to how Crackdown had access to Halo 3 beta. Such access for Gears of War 3 will become available in April, so for Bulletstorm owners, it will be like the game’s release was never delayed.
Epic Games’ website describes this latest installment as “the spectacular conclusion to one of the games industry’s most memorable and celebrated sagas.” Come September, gamers can hook up their XBox to an HDTV, high-tech computer or HDMI projector and “experience the epic story finale” in “one of the biggest franchises in XBox history,” according to Epic.
To date, nearly 6 million copies of Gears of War have been sold worldwide.
