In honor of President’s Day, a recent G4TV article discussed the best and worst presidents, both real and fictional, within video game worlds.
The first mention belonged to former President Bill Clinton, whose appearance in the original, 16-bit version of the NBA Jam series made many gamers smile. Clinton’s character was unlockable through codes and achievements. In 2010’s remake of the series, both Barack Obama and George W. Bush were added to the mix as well, perfect for those new politicians wanting to dunk with their new world leaders, displayed on an HDTV, computer or HDMI projector.
The article mentioned President Michael Wilson in Metal Wolf Chaos as its second-best president, as Wilson fights the entire U.S. armed forces on his own after learning of a coup d’etat by the vice president.
As for the worst presidential roles, Obama received mention for his role in Madden NFL 11, where he appears to congratulate the Super Bowl champions after a season’s finish. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t speak a word to the champions upon their White House visit and his motions are “stiff and overly practiced,” according to the article.
Video game numbers recently dipped in January, falling to $1.14 billion, down from $1.18 billion in 2010’s same month.
