Recently, former Beatles drummer and music icon Ringo Starr trademarked his name for any future use in relation to video games. While the legend has already conquered the music world, the move has many speculating that the digital world of video and computer games might be next.
Starr is already in one video game, The Beatles: Rock Band, which was released in 2009 to favorable results. According to the Hollywood Reporter, many websites have begun speculating that an announcement for a Ringo-based game or mobile application will be coming soon, perhaps at the South by Southwest festival in March.
Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, filed his application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on January 23, officially registering the moniker "Ringo" as his own.
For those still suffering from Beatlemania, this announcement only raises eager anticipation; dreams of playing as Ringo in Shea Stadium on their video game system, HDTV or HDMI projector could be realized soon enough.
Currently, The Beatles: Rock Band has sold more than 2 million copies to date.
