Warner Bros. is hitting reset on the infamous Mortal Kombat video game series, and will release a rebooted version on April 19 in North America, the company recently announced.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios, the game will be available on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms in three versions - standard edition, Kollektor's edition and tournament edition.
The PlayStation 3 version will feature God of War protagonist Kratos as an exclusive playable character. According to the Official PlayStationMagazine, Kratos will have his own set of combat moves and fatalities, but will not be available for the game's single-player story mode.
Gamers who want to get the most out of the re-visioning of the classic, ultra-gory fighting game can hook their console up to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector to feel like they are truly part of the over-the-top action.
First released in 1992, this will be the first Mortal Kombat installment not released by Midway. However, the series will retain the talents of series co-creator Ed Boon as the creative director.
