Sony recently announced the availability of a new gun-shaped attachment for its Playstation Move controller that allows gamers to feel as if they were playing an arcade shooting game.
The Playstation Move Shooting Attachment resembles a handgun into which Sony’s motion-sensing Move controller slides. By inserting the Playstation Move controller horizontally into the shooting attachment, gamers are able to aim more accurately when playing first-person shooter games.
The attachment launches alongside Sony’s new first-person action demo game, the Shoot, in which players get to blast through armies of robots, zombies and other enemies to impress a movie director and become the ultimate action movie hero. The Shoot is currently available on the Playstation Network, but the Move shooting attachment also works with other shooter titles, including Time Crisis: Razing Storm, GunCon 3 and DualShock 3.
Along with Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s upcoming Kinect for the Xbox 360, motion-capture gaming is quickly becoming a popular trend. Gamers who connect their consoles to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI gaming projector are able to see themselves run, jump, dance and shoot in high-quality display.
The launch of the Playstation Shooting Attachment and the Shoot come on the heels of Sony announcing it shipped more than 1 million Playstation Move units in North America in the first month, according to Reuters.
