
Video game developer Harmonix Music Systems recently announced musical legend Billy Joel will bring his music to the Rock Band rhythm-action video game series.
Rock Band 3 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii will feature more than 2,000 songs that gamers can access on-disc or as downloadable content when it hits stores October 26. In addition to the plastic guitars, drums and microphone, for this installment, Harmonix has also rolled out a number of new features, including more difficulty modes, vocal harmonies and a keyboard.
“The addition of the keyboard made me interested in bringing my music to Rock Band,” said the six-time Grammy Award winner. “The game introduces music to an enthusiastic audience in a powerful way, and now also helps players get a grasp on the fundamental of the keyboard.”
Gamers who want to get the most of out their virtual rock concert experience can connect their gaming console to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector for a high-definition picture.
To date, gamers have downloaded for than 75 million songs from the Rock Band Music Store, Harmonix stated. In addition to Billy Joel, Rock Band 3 will also feature tracks from the Doors, John Lennon and David Bowie.
