Netflix recently announced an addition to make video streaming easier for Wii and Playstation 3 users.
Beginning this week, Netflix subscribers with a Nintendo Wii or Sony Playstation 3 console will be able to stream content directly from the Netflix library without the hassle of an instant streaming disc. According to Netflix, subscribers can download a Netflix application from the Wii Shop channel and the Playstation Store.
“In addition to removing the need for discs, we’ve developed a new user interface on both applications that significantly improves their experience,” Netflix Vice President of Product Development Greg Peters recently wrote on the company’s blog. “The new applications will allow you to search for content directly from the device and you’ll also be able to view an increasing portion of our content library with subtitles or alternate audio tracks.”
Netflix subscribers who want to the get most out of their video content can connect their console to an HD-TV, LED monitor or
DLP projector to stream their movies in crystal-clear, high-definition picture quality.
In addition to the improved streaming function, Netflix also announced Playstation 3 owners will be able to instantly watch some videos with Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound.
