Nintendo’s most famous pink puffball makes his return to the home console in a game that aims to have gamers both young and adult splitting at the seams with Kirby’s Epic Yarn.
In recent years, Kirby has enjoyed success on Nintendo’s various portable systems and in several cameo appearances for the Wii, but he hasn’t shown up in a home console game of his own since 2000’s Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards for Nintendo 64.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii is a 2D side-scrolling adventure much in the vein of Super Mario Brothers and previous Kirby titles. Kirby weaves his way through a world made entirely out of yarn and fabric. Rather than inhaling his enemies, the Kirby is now armed with a piece of yarn to use as a whip and can also transform into a number of controllable vehicles, including a car and a rocket ship.
The bright, vivid colors and cloth styling gives Kirby’s Epic Yarn a visual appearance unlike any other game. Gamers who want to get the most of out the stunning environments and rich textures can connect their consoles to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI gaming projector to play the game in crystal-clear quality.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn is available as of October 17 in North American exclusively on the Wii. Early critical reception of the game has been generally positive, with IGN giving it a 9.0 rating and an Editor’s Choice award.
