Rapper Lil Wayne is taking an innovative approach to boost CD sales in an otherwise floundering market - packaging it with a video game.
From October 12 to October 19, any Best Buy customer who purchases Konami and 4mm Games’ Def Jam Rapstar karaoke video game for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or the Wii will also get a copy of Lil Wayne’s latest album titled “I Am Not a Human Being.”
Def Jam Rapstar is a rap-centric karaoke game that allows gamers to grab the mic and rap along to some of their favorite hip-hop songs from the Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West and the Notorious B.I.G. The cleaned-up song selection spans from classics like Run DMC’s “Run’s House” to more modern tracks like “Best I Ever Had” by Drake.
Gamers who want to get the most out of their in-house rap concerts can connect their gaming consoles to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector to show off their skills in high-definition displays.
Lil Wayne’s package comes on the heels of a similar packaging offer from rock band Soundgarden, who recently bundled its new greatest hits album Telephantasm with copies of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
