Fans of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkam Asylum can rejoice after recent reports indicate a sequel will be released in the fall of 2011.
The new game, named Batman: Arkam City, takes place a year after the story of Arkam Asylum finishes. A significant area of the citys slums has been converted into a new criminal facility, housing insane prisoners and being headed by psychiatrist Hugo Strange, IGN reports. Prisoners are left to fend for themselves inside the penitentiary.
Gamers can connect their consoles to an HD TV, LED monitor or
gaming projector and experience menacing villains like the Joker and Two-Face in high-quality graphics.
Game developer Sefton Hill, of Rocksteady Games, said the new title will build upon the success of its predecessor, but will not simply copy designs and use the same graphics.
We want to top everything that we did in the last game, Hill told Game Informer Magazine. We didnt want to do an Arkam Asylum 1.5
Batman will be equipped with many of the same gadgets that helped him battle through the first game, along with new equipment, such as the Bat Claw, also likely to be available for gamers, the report relays.
Arkam Asylum received 91 points out of 100 on Metacritic, with numerous critics lauding Rocksteady Games for developing an all-around well-crafted title.
