The Monkey Island video game franchise has grown a cult following since its inception in 1990. The games developers, LucasArts, recently released a special edition version of Monkey Island 2: LeChucks Revenge that will allow players to relive the classic sequel with new colorful graphics and enhanced gameplay.
The game, which was recently made available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, features new high-definition art perfect for individuals who want to connect their consoles to an HDTV, LCD monitor or
gaming projector.
The special edition features the same cast of characters and storyline, but allows players to switch between the new visually enhanced version and the original.
The series has been revered for its complex but engrossing puzzles and witty humor. None of those facets are lost with the new title, which offers gamers an opportunity to explore the swashbuckling world of Guybrush Threepwood, Monkey Islands protagonist.
The new version of Monkey Island has received a score of 86 out of 100 on Metacritic, with Game Revolution and Gamers.at awarding it scores of 91 and 94, respectively.
