On Tuesday, Sega announced it will release a Thor-inspired video game in 2011 for all five major consoles, including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Thor: The Video Game will be a third-person adventure, offering gamers an opportunity to explore the wide realm of Norse mythology, battling legendary creatures along the way. Fans looking to enhance their playing experience can connect their consoles to an HD TV, LED monitor or
gaming projector and defend the Norse capital city of Asgard in high quality displays.
We are proud to be bringing Marvels Thor to his first solo video game adventure, said Gary Knight, senior vice president of marketing for SEGA Europe and SEGA America. Thor: The Video Game will finally bring the immense power of this iconic hero to lifelong fans, and introduce the God of Thunder to a whole new audience as a true Marvel Super Hero.
Thor, a fictional character co-created by Stan Lee, will be equipped with his trademark hammer, which players can use to inflict massive damage on opponents. The superheros stats will upgrade as gamers advance through various stages, which will unlock new abilities and powers.
The game is likely to be released alongside a feature film version of the superhero opening in theaters in May of 2011. Kenneth Branagh will direct Marvel Studios Thor, with Chris Hemsworth taking the role of the title character.
