Visceral Games recently announced a downloadable prequel to its widely anticipated Dead Space 2 title. The new extension will allow gamers to continue traversing the Sprawl as they encounter dangerous creatures.
Dead Space Ignition will be a challenging prequel for players who cannot wait until Dead Space 2 releases in January 2011 to battle Necromorphs.
Steve Papoutsis, executive producer of the franchise, said the interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, and will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.
The new title offers gamers three new mini games, including Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. Players looking to enhance the visuals of the new puzzling challenges can connect their consoles to a high-definition TV, LED monitor or a
gaming projector.
In addition to the three new modes, gamers can select a choose your own adventure challenge, which will offer unique outcomes based on the decisions players make.
The game will be available for fans on the PlayStation network and Xbox Live this fall. Dead Space was one of the highest-ranked titles of 2008, achieving an 89 out of 100 on Metacritic.
