Nintendos Super Mario Galaxy 2 has outdueled Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 as the highest-ranking video game thus far in 2010, according to Metacritic.
The new Mario title, which Metacritic reports has sold 2.6 million units since its release near the end of May, is full of new galaxies for gamers to explore and features many familiar characters from the classic Nintendo franchise.
According to an IGN review, the game developers fixed the few deficiencies found in the masterful original, allowing them to create an even more expansive and well-rounded sequel. The reviewer said the title has multiple challenge modes, allowing players of all ages to traverse through the game at a difficulty setting that is appropriate for them.
Featuring a blend of vibrant color schemes and impressive graphics, gamers looking to enhance the interactive Mario world can connect their Wii consoles to a high-definition TV, LCD monitor or
gaming projector.
The game currently has a rating of 98 out of 100 on Metacritic, tying Grand Theft Auto IV, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and Soul Calibur as the highest-ranked video games of all-time.
