
Fans of the gaming world are currently flocking to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the E3 Expo 2010, where the industry's biggest names have been showcasing the latest technology and titles.
New products being previewed like Microsoft's Kinect, Sony's Move and Casio's Green Slim gaming projectors may be the keys to an expected rise in video game purchases this year.
Gamers in North America will spend 7.2 percent more this year on video game hardware, software and accessories than they did in 2009, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers, Reuters relays. The growth is six times greater than that expected in all North American entertainment and media combined.
From 2011 to 2014, the gaming industry will grow at a rate of up to 6.5 percent each year, PwC reports, Reuters relays. Consumers in North America will spend $15.3 billion on video games this year, showing growth for every console except PC games. Growth trends show online games are the next step in the industry as the category will achieve an 8.7 percent increase in 2010.
The E3 Expo 2010 will feature video game companies, business partners and industry analysts from more than 80 countries, according its website. More than 10,000 professionals and gaming enthusiasts are expected to attend the three-day event.
