2K Sports announced on Thursday that the latest installment of its NBA video game franchise will feature Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan on the cover.
Jordan, who won five MVP awards and led the Bulls to six NBA championship titles, said he was "honored" to be a part of the 2K series - the highest-rated and best-selling basketball video game franchise since 2008, according to GameRankings.com.
The decision to feature the recent Hall of Fame inductee on the cover of NBA 2K11 was an obvious choice for Greg Thomas, president of product development for 2K Sports, who said "Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time and we're excited to partner with a living legend."
Jordan will be a playable character in 2K11, allowing gamers to reenact his famous free-throw line dunk - an iconic sports moment that can be relived in full effect by hooking up an XBox 360 or Play Station 3 to a high-definition television, LCD monitor or HDMI projector.
2K Sports' most recent effort, NBA 2K10, sold more than two million copies worldwide and received a score of 85 out of 100 on MetaCritic.
