The sequel to 2007's Crysis - which won rave reviews at the time for its groundbreaking graphical implementations of jungle environments and extended draw distance - appears set to follow in its predecessor's footsteps, according to gaming news blog Kotaku.
Kotaku writer Michael McWhertor uses the word "photorealism" to describe the New York cityscapes previewed by Crysis 2's creators. Graphics of such a high standard, gaming experts say, are generally best appreciated on high-end monitors, HDTVs, or even computer projectors.
However, McWhertor notes that the PC version of Crysis 2, due in no small part to its advanced graphics, will require top-shelf hardware in order to be run at the highest levels of detail. Gamers looking to get the most out of Crysis 2 might need to upgrade their RAM or install a new graphics card.
Many of the major titles released by the video game industry in recent months have been sequels to existing series or new versions of existing licenses, though the independent gaming sector continues to release original and innovative products.
