Almost as soon as Nintendo's Wii console, featuring a motion-sensitive main controller, debuted in late 2006, gaming pundits were clamoring for the lightsaber simulation that Star Wars fans had long hoped for. At long last, it seems, their prayers may be answered, but not with a Wii game: Lucasarts CEO Darrell Rodriguez told UK gaming news website MCV that the company is considering a lightsaber game using either Sony's PlayStation Move controller or Microsoft's Project Natal.
According to another gaming news site, 1up.com, developers have recently said that the Move controller tracks movement more accurately than the Wiimote. The experience, then, of playing a lightsaber game on a large-scale display like a plasma TV, LCD screen, or widescreen projector, might be the next best thing to appearing in the Star Wars films.
Rodriguez told MCV that "I'm very excited by the new interfaces, either Natal, Move or iPad. It's something we're definitely watching and we will consider in the future. The regular suggestion of a lightsaber game is one of the reasons why we are excited about it but we'll keep looking at it and see what we can do."
