Xbox 360 dashboard ads prematurely announce third entry in Gears of War series April 12, 2010
A series of advertisements displayed on the dashboard of the Xbox 360 proclaimed that the widely-anticipated - but not officially confirmed - Gears of War 3 would be released in April of 2011. The tech punditry had expected celebrity game designer Cliff Bleszinski to officially announce the game during an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon scheduled for earlier this week, but the roll-out was bumped to this coming Monday at the last minute. Speculation is rife that someone simply forgot to tell the Xbox 360 ad team. The Gears of War series has won widespread praise from game critics. If the trend continues, Gears of War 3 might demand a very high-quality display, such as an HDMI projector, in order to get the most from the graphics. Gamespot said of the first iteration, in 2006, that its "stellar graphics reset the bar for what consoles can do visually." The video game review site also praised the sequel's graphics, saying that they "[maintain] this high technical and artistic quality." | Sifteo cubes offer unique gaming opportunities
