Future videogame equipment could look very different

Families gaming in new placesVideogames are increasingly moving out of children's bedrooms and into the main rooms of the house, and the setting in which the next generation plays games could look much different than the present day, according to ABC News.

ABC reports that "huge growth in home gaming sales convinced Hooker Furniture in Martinsville, Virginia to start designing furniture for games, said spokeswoman Kim Shaver, citing a 2009 Centris study that said more than 33 million U.S. households have systems."

The national network also notes that the increasing vogue for displays that do not conform to the traditional, boxy cathode ray-tube TV model - from flatscreen plasma or LCD TVs to HDMI projectors - has helped to spur the growth of new furnishings for gaming rooms.

Experts say that, in addition to new furniture and displays, future gamers may not have to deal with controls studded with complicated buttons - motion capture wands like those on offer from Sony and Nintendo, as well as Microsoft's controller-free Project Natal, could be the wave of the future.ADNFCR-3190-ID-19690412-ADNFCR
