Gull Lake Community Schools in Richland, Michigan, may receive $7 million in technology and building funding if district voters approve a new bill, according to a recent MLive.com report.
If passed, approximately 70 percent of the bond would be allocated for technology for students and teachers. The news provider indicated that one proposal was to distribute laptops to every student in the district.
Other technology can be valuable learning tools for students. For example, a tablet computer, an interactive whiteboard or a classroom projector each provides a own unique platform that encourages students to tap into their learning potential.
According to the MLive.com report, ways to utilize the other 30 percent - approximately $2.2 million in funding - are currently being considered. District board president Jill Adamski noted that the money will not be spent for athletics.
"In my mind it's a priority, but knowing that it will not be supported by voters, our intention is to find another way to do that project by the fall," said Adamski, according to the news provider. "If the bond passes, it will take pressure off of other funds. That feeling was confirmed at community forums."
