Rather than use traditional instruments to play music at Valley Center High School in Kansas, students are using iPads to access a broader range of musical talents, KWCH recently reported.
"The idea is to create and perform digital music," music teach Mike McCormick told the news provider. "We have 40 different keyboards, we have eight different guitars, we have two or three different kinds of bluegrass guitars, five different drum kits."
Educators have an abundance of technology options, in addition to tablet computers, to help students tap into their potential. For example, a document camera, interactive whiteboard or
DLP projector can each offer its own unique contribution to the classroom experience.
KWCH's Dave Roberts reported that students at Valley Center are using the iPad mobile application Garage Band to collaborate in McCormick's music class. As part of the curriculum, participants also have to learn how to edit songs.
Student Kaylee Love told the news provider that the class has inspired her to pursue a career in the music industry. Love's classmate Auna Wilbur added that McCormick's class is an opportunity she has never been able to experience before and has enjoyed her time so far.
