A middle school in San Diego hopes a new initiative will help it purchase new technology.Carmel Valley Middle School in San Diego recently launched a campaign called CVMS 2.0 Upgrade Our School with the intention of gaining community support to upgrade its classroom technology, Carmel Valley News reported.

The news provider's Kelly Carlson said that the goal of the school is to acquire funding for new projectors and streamlined audio and video technologies. President Laurie Francis indicated that the potential upgrade will be the school's first in 13 years, during which the schools has tried to maintain its infrastructure.

Carmel Valley officials may want to purchase any number of devices, such as a tablet, document camera or DLP projector, which can keep any classroom on the path of cutting-edge technology.

Carlson reported that parent-teacher-student association president Teri Naftalin said the school hopes to receive a minimum donation of $40 per family. If all families associated with the school donate, Carmel Valley will receive $59,000.

"The fundraising effort began during Back to School Night, on September 17, and it will continue until the goal is achieved," wrote Carlson. "The upgrade would occur immediately after the monies are acquired."
