Technology Without Borders crosses into Canada
October 26, 2011

Technology Without Borders crosses into Canada Schools in West Edmonton, Alberta, are welcoming a wave of new classroom technology devices, including iPads, digital cameras and laptop computers, thanks to the assistance of Technology Without Borders, a program that helps bring state-of-the-art educational technology into the classroom, according to the Edmonton Sun.

A device like a tablet computer, interactive whiteboard or DLP projector can bring new life to a classroom, encouraging new forms of interactive media possibilities for students and teachers. High-tech devices like these also offer a new level of connectivity between classrooms, schools and school districts, providing expansive opportunities for collaborative learning.

"The more you get the technology in the hands of the teachers, the more it opens up a different frame of reference into how they can use it in the classroom," Anton Lakusta, a local IT consultant working with the schools, told the news source. Schools like the Laperle School in West Edmonton are introducing the technology as a foundation in classrooms and adding the devices to an established core of educational technology that includes interactive whiteboards and document cameras.

The source also noted that in addition to public schools in Edmonton, many private schools are also developing technology-rich programs.
