According to a recent BBC report, by 2015, all classrooms in South Korea will have completely abandoned traditional textbooks in favor of digital books on PCs, laptops and tablet computers. South Korean Minister of Education Ju-Ho Lee says that the transition will change the way students experience education as a whole, expanding the classroom in countless ways.
Classroom technology improvements can do a lot for a student, a school or a system in general. Many school IT officials say that integrating classroom technology devices, like a tablet computer, interactive whiteboard or
DLP projector, can improve schools overall. For example, today's HD classroom projectors feature energy-saving lamps and superior display capabilities and can project data from just about any source.
The tech-savvy of its students may make South Korea the perfect country to implement a nation-wide educational upgrade like this one. Studies have shown that teenagers in South Korea are the most adept tech users in the world, according to the source.
"Smart Education will change how we perceive textbooks," Lee told the source. "The transfer from the traditional paper textbooks to digital textbooks will allow students to leave behind their heavy backpacks and explore the world beyond the classroom."
