Wisconsin technical college integrates new pilot technology programMoraine Park Technical College in Hartford, Wisconsin, recently began using two state-of-the-art classrooms built last year, according to the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen. The TelePresence room allows students to connect remotely with other classrooms and remote locations, while the Active Learning room gives teachers the resources to design comprehensive multimedia-oriented lesson plans. Officials say the video conferencing technology in the Telepresence room could help provide students access to meetings and symposiums as well as courses held at other locations.

Access to classroom technology, whether it be through teleconferencing apparatus, a document camera or a DLP projector, can give students at every level an enhanced educational experience. At MPTC, teachers are leveraging the technology to give students full access to lecture and seminar courses offered at other campuses.

The Telepresence room cost a total of $168,000 and the Active Learning room, which features interactive whiteboards and large computer screens, cost $71,000, according to the source.

Technology officials at the school told the source that the technology upgrades are part of a pilot program to gauge the effectiveness of technology in the classroom. The school also purchased a number of iPads that students can access.
