According to the Bismark Tribune, the recent introduction of technology into classrooms at the St. Mary's Grade School and Mandran High School in Bismark, North Dakota, has improved lessons and provided a blueprint for the implementation of classroom technology in the future.
Access to classroom technology, like an interactive whiteboard, document camera or
DLP projector, allows teachers to adapt their lesson plans to reach a number of students with a variety of different learning styles. These students absorb more information at a quicker pace because of the depth of knowledge imparted through multimedia presentation.
Technology in the classroom also provides students with a certain level of comfort.
"This generation of kids doesn't know what it means not to have the internet. This is the way this generation learns, so why not put that in their hands?" Mark Kielpinski, Mandran High's lead technology educator, told the source.
Students at the schools have been given access to iPads and foreign language software, among other devices. The source does note, however, that properly training teachers on how best to implement new technology into a lesson plan is key to getting the most out of any education technology investment.
