Innovative touchscreen tool recognized with classroom technology award The ComputEd Gazette recently announced the Hatch iStartSmart was selected as the 16th recepient of the Annual Education Software Review, or EDDIE, Award in the early learning touchscreen solution category.

Hatch president Ginny Norton noted that the iStartSmart system is more than a computer designed for young children - it represents a comprehensive learning system that allows teachers to track individual progress and adapt lesson plans to address strengths and weaknesses of a particular student.

Access to classroom technology, like a touchscreen computer, interactive whiteboard or HDMI projector, provides students with more educational opportunities than if they were learning in an exclusively traditional environment. Today, students at every level are familiar with advanced technology in many aspects of their day-to-day lives, and integrating technology into the classroom helps engage students comfortably, making school a more inviting and less alienating place.

ComputEd's EDDIE Awards annually recognize hardware and software solutions that increase the potiental for technology use in the classroom. Judging criteria for submissions includes potential for use, technical capabilities and subject approach. Awards are given out to products submitted from around the world across a range of categories.
