CDW announces winners of classroom technology contest CDW Government recently announced the 2011 grand prize winners of its Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes, a contest that awards three classrooms with state-of-the-art classroom technology. The initiative, a partnership with Discovery Education, a classroom technology provider, also awards more than $200,000 worth of additional prizes to 53 runner-up schools.

Classroom technology, like an interactive whiteboard, a student response system or a DLP projector, gives students an advantage by engaging them and catering to a number of different learning styles.

"These tools will help create environments that move classroom instruction beyond the limitations of a static textbook and into a digital world that promotes collaboration, creativity and participatory learning," said Mary Rollins, vice president of Discovery Education.

Grand prize-winning schools receive a classroom upgrade worth about $43,000, according to the source. Some of the technology upgrades include full wireless connectivity, a document camera and a customized package of at least 20 netbooks and tablet computers.

CDW received more than 600,000 total entries, and almost 7,000 entries were submitted via Twitter.
