According to the Wausau Daily Herald, D.C. Everest Senior High School in central Wisconsin recently received a $163,350 grant courtesy of the Wisconsin Technology Initiative. John and Tashia Morgridge established the Wisconsin Technology Initiative in 2010, pledging to improve the technological capabilities of Wisconsin schools.
Many schools are investing in advanced technology for their classrooms. Today's students are tech savvy, and respond to the integration of technology like HDMI projectors in the classroom can engage more children with a variety of learning styles.
The grant awarded to D.C. Everest Senior High School will be used to purchase interactive white boards, classroom projectors and document cameras. The grant also allocates funds to train teachers, a crucial step in ensuring the effectiveness of the tools.
Nancy Gajewski, a social studies teacher at the school, noted that students' familiarity and comfort with technology make the new additions especially beneficial.
"[Students] are so much more sophisticated," Gajewski told the news source. "Sometimes in my classes, I'll have kids show me how I can do things faster on the computer. Kids are already using these tools."
