A Wisconsin school system recently received a grant to upgrade its classroom technology. The D.C. Everest Senior High School in Wisconsin is slated to receive a $163,350 grant from the state's Technology Initiative to upgrade its technology.

According to a recent Wausau Daily Herald report, 60 teachers will receive equipment upgrades in their classrooms, including Spanish teacher Leslei Meuret.

"We study world news and I just learned how I can use this to translate newspapers into Spanish, so now I can display, say, the New York Times in Spanish and we can discuss the news and develop Spanish language skills," Meuret told the news provider.

As part of the Wisconsin Technology Initiative, classrooms will receive high-end devices, including document cameras, projectors and interactive whiteboards, which provide new educational opportunities for students and teachers alike.

Additionally, teachers will also receive training to become well-equipped with the technology, according to the report.

Patty Mayo, an English teacher at the D.C. Everest Junior High School, told the Wausau Daily Herald the training gave her more confidence to work with the high-end equipment.

"Before, I was reluctant to try it on my own," Mayo told the news provider.
