DYMO/Mimio recently selected Mountain View Elementary School in Broomfield, Colorado, as the first recipient of their science and math grant that is part of the company's new program open to grades K-12.
"Winning a DYMO/Mimio Grant is exciting, as are the possibilities and opportunities it will open up for our students and staff," said Tracey Amend, principal of Mountain View Elementary School.
Mountain View was selected among more than 100 entries for the DYMO/Mimio Math and Science Grant. The school won because of its creative entry that showed how it would implement the new technology if it were to win, according to a statement from the company.
The elementary school will receive 10 interactive teaching systems, 10 document viewing cameras and 10 tablets. Mimio will also go to the school for an on-site product demonstration as well as provide staff members with training sessions.
More grants are expected to be given away by the company beyond the math and science grant. The next one available will be the JumpStart Grant in September.
The products use MimioStudio 7 software and is used in conjunction with Mimio's interactive whiteboard, which connects to a classroom projector, according to Mimio's website.
