Rogers Elementary School in Rogers, Ohio, will soon use an interactive whiteboard to help teach its students. According to the Review, the educational technology device, which costs approximately $350, will be paid for by a Lou Holtz Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame Foundation grant.
Teachers across the state are currently investigating interactive whiteboards as a way to reach their students through technology, reported the news source. Rogers school district superintendent Kent Polen stated the device will enhance the learning experience, as it enables students to actively participate in the day's lesson.
The media outlet stated that students already have access to educational technology, including computers with internet access that can directly link to the new interactive whiteboard. Teachers may also consider seeing if the whiteboard is compatible with additional devices, such as an e-reader, a reading software program or a classroom projector.
Teachers with the school, while happy to receive the interactive whiteboard, are not likely to become complacent in regards to technology anytime soon. According to the Review, Rogers Elementary's principal Elizabeth Scott hopes that additional grants will be provided to the school in the future so that it may purchase more advanced devices.
