Epistemological experts are clamoring about interactive whiteboard technology, as it has been shown to increase student attentiveness and make learning more hands-on. According to news provider Al
Bawaba, SMART Technologies, a leading interactive whiteboard manufacturer, recently installed its 2 millionth
Smartboard.
The milestone marks 20 years of work in the educational technology field, reported the news source. Accordingly, market research has revealed that roughly 8 percent of the world's classrooms now employ interactive whiteboard technology.
Furthermore, interactive whiteboards may be most effective when paired with other educational technology, such as an e-reader, a computer-based writing program or a classroom projector, which can display additional information alongside the
Smartboard.
While the devices are well-established in the United States and other Western nations, the technology firm is now setting its sights on the Middle East.
"Reaching the 2 millionth milestone is a landmark achievement for SMART Technologies and we look forward to continuing to leverage our internationally proven track record to provide better learning opportunities for students in the Middle East and enhancing their ability to realize their true potential," said Aaron Fright, SMART’s area manager for the Middle East.
