According to a new report by AZ Central, grants provided by the Science Foundation Arizona to universities, community education organizations and businesses have created more than 1,500 jobs in Arizona in the last four years.
Furthermore, much of the money delivered by the
SFA grant program is being funneled back into the state's economy, stated the news provider. Accordingly, a grand total of $199.5 million has been re-invested in community initiatives, local businesses and in-state universities.
"The business leadership continues to understand this is the best chance we have for the economic future of Arizona," said Margaret Mullen, COO of the
SFA.
Universities and other academic initiatives, such as research projects, are among the program's beneficiaries. Therefore, professors may use the grant money to incorporate educational technology, such as a STEM computer program, a high-tech computer or a classroom projector, into their lectures.
The media outlet reported the foundation was created by three Arizona businesses five years ago in order to ready the state's schools and businesses for an increasingly technological age. Since then, initiatives focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics have received additional funding from the
SFA.
