New Ohio high schools will feature educational technologyAccording to the Ohio Department of Education, five school districts in the state were recently awarded grants, which will be used to establish New Tech Network high schools in each district.

The New Tech Network high schools will incorporate rigorous teacher training, refined academics and educational technology into the learning experience, stated the news source. The funding for these advanced institutions was distributed as part of Ohio DoE's Race to the Top program. The learning initiative is federally sponsored and designed to create a high-quality educational experience.

Technology is an integral part of the learning initiative. Therefore, teachers assigned to the New Tech Network high schools may find various educational technology devices, such as an e-reader, an interactive whiteboard and a DLP projector, in their classrooms.

New Tech Network president Lydia Dobyns said the high schools may enhance student learning.

"Teachers and students in each of these schools will benefit tremendously from [multiple] years worth of training and coaching along with the deep infusion of state of the art technology," she said.
