According to the Toledo Blade, schools in the Perrysburg and Rossford districts of Ohio will use recently awarded grant money to train new teachers and buy the latest educational technology.
One of the schools to benefit from the eTech grants, Fort Meigs Elementary in Perrysburg, will use $10,000 of its $25,000 grant for teacher training, reported the news source. Accordingly, the rest will be spent on technological devices.
"We are happy to have this opportunity to increase our students' exposure to technology," Scott Best, principal of Fort Meigs Elementary, told the media outlet.
Teachers may want to integrate the technology into lesson plans using a variety of different methods. Therefore, numerous technological devices, such as an interactive whiteboard, an e-reader or a classroom projector, may be bought based on the specific needs of each subject.
The grants were delivered in partnership with nearby Bowling Green University. According to the Lakewood Observer, teachers in Lakewood, Ohio, were also eTech grant recipients. The school system used the funding to buy $14,000 worth of technology devices, such as laptop computers.
