High school teachers throughout the United States find their jobs much easier when incoming freshmen perform at grade level. According to the Palm Beach Post News, grant money was recently given to the Palm Beach County School District in Florida as part of a larger effort to prepare elementary school students for secondary education.
The grant, which totals $1.1 million, will be dispersed to middle schools and elementary schools throughout the county, reported the news source. More teacher training seminars and new educational technology purchases will be paid for by the additional funds, which were delivered to the school system by the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund.
The fund has long supported math and science initiatives. Furthermore, the media outlet claimed, a pilot program focusing on these subjects will be developed by the school system. Teachers may incorporate education technology, such as graphic calculator, a STEM computer program or a
DLP projector, in the initiative as a way to enhance student learning.
Education grants have been numerous for Florida schools. According to the Miami Herald, a federal grant recently paid for iPads for schools in Tampa.
