Oklahoma schools benefit from city-wide grants
June 22, 2011

Schools in Oklahoma may soon improve education standardsThe Muskogee Foundation in Oklahoma will soon donate money to many of its municipal institutions, including its school system. According to the Muskogee Phoenix, the grant money delivered to the school district will be used to fund a "catch-all" program intended to enrich student experiences.

The funds will provide room for additional resources and personnel for the school system, including a new guidance counselor, a science coach and a public relations expert, reported the media outlet. Furthermore, $25,000 of the grant money will be used to create a special program for exceptionally bright and gifted students.

Once this program is established, educators may soon find that the best way to reach their talented students is not through normal means, but rather through educational technology devices. Consequently, these teachers may consider purchasing a calculus computer program, an online encyclopedia or a classroom projector.

The grants to educators may be in response to demands placed on the school district by the state. According to another article from the Muskogee Phoenix, several schools in the area have had trouble meeting minimum CORE education standards. Now that they have the funding they need to secure additional resources, these schools may soon be able to reverse their downward trends.
