Students in New Jersey use advanced reading device
June 20, 2011

Normal texts replaced by e-readersAccording to New Jersey Today, students at the Franklin School in Rahway, New Jersey, use educational technology when learning to read.

Recently, a teacher at the school used money provided by the Rahway Foundation for Excellence in Education Grant to buy a Nook, reported the news source. The e-reader has since been very effective in exciting the students about reading. One student claimed the educational technology is like "a book that came from the year 2496. It is cool how I could turn pages by sliding my finger across the Nook."

Teachers nationwide notice that, with the introduction of technology in the classroom, their lesson plans are empowered and students are more keen to learn. Therefore, educators may apply for grants to fund these initiatives, and those lucky enough to qualify may consider purchasing an e-reader, an interactive whiteboard or a classroom projector.

Tablets are another form of student-accessible technology making headway in the classroom. Manitou Springs Elementary School in Manitou Springs, Colorado, recently purchased a large number of iPads to integrate learning processes with the latest technology, reported the Denver Post.
