Technology reaches out to high school studentsA $2,000 grant to purchase new iPads was given to Gerald Fetter of Council Rock High School in Holland, Pennsylvania, reported the Courier Times. Fetter will use the educational aids to teach his students about the far-off objects in the night sky.

The Council Rock Education Foundation recently awarded schools in its district a total of $16,000 in education grants. According to the news source, the widely dispersed funds were used to empower technology initiatives aimed at enhancing student learning.

In the case of Fetter's high school class, students will use an iPad application that provides intricate details of the heavens and teaches them to identify planets, stars and galaxies, claimed the media outlet. Accordingly, innovative technology use in the classroom can be extended to other devices, such as an interactive whiteboard, a 3D computer program or a classroom projector.

Recipients of the CREF grants will pair their teaching skills with the newest technology to help their students learn. An elementary school teacher in the district will develop a web-based math program to help first- and second-graders falling behind in the subject, stated the Courier Times
