Student attentiveness improved by technologyWilimington College in Wilimington, Ohio, was one of the 11 colleges selected for statewide technology grants, reported the Wilimington News Journal. Through the additional funds, the higher education institution will look to improve its information and communication technologies.

The funds given to the school total $100,000, stated the news source. Along with equipment and technology purchases, the grant will also pay for training courses to prepare teachers to use the new classroom aids.

The college, which focuses on teacher training and educational degrees, seeks to use classroom technologies to develop inventive curriculums for its future educators. Professors looking to upgrade their semester plans through new learning incentives may consider using grant money to purchase a math computer program, an e-reader tutorial program or a DLP projector.

Through the initiative, many educators in the system believe they will be able to get students interested in science, technology, engineering and math fields as a potential career.
"We feel this grant will enhance the field placement opportunities for our teacher education students," Michelle Berry, associate professor of education at Wlimington College, told the media organization.
