Teachers nationwide recognize the importance of science, technology, engineering and math education for students looking to succeed beyond high school. In an effort to help pupils in the Madison County School System in Virginia, the American Honda Foundation will give $60,000 to the district to enhance its STEM offerings, reported the Richmond Register.
The grant will fund extracurricular activities designed to reach out to students after regular school hours, according to the news source. STEM-themed summer camps will be created, as well as overnight lock-ins and technology competitions.
Scientific learning is a crucial element of a complete education. Teachers wanting to make sure their students have the best possible STEM resources available to them may also consider making classroom technology purchases, such as a Lego Mindstorm robotics kit, an engineering software program or a
DLP projector.
The STEM programs are intended to give students more knowledge and resources to succeed beyond high school.
"Through participating, STEM Infusion partners believe students will not only find themselves more challenged in school but also more prepared for college and a STEM related career," David Kitchen, head of a local education foundation, told the media outlet.
