The students of Riverside Elementary School in Coral Springs, Florida, recently displayed how much technological aids have assisted their learning, reports the JC Floridian.
A while back, the school received a wealth of new technology from a $750,000 grant given to its local school district. Along with new wireless access ports for the facilities, Riverside Elementary also used the money to purchase 213 laptops and 100 iPads, according to the news source.
Each teacher was given $1,000 to spend on science supplies, stated the media organization. Much of this money has been devoted to technology purchases. Educators who have not completely used up their funds at this point may want to buy additional digital learning aids, such as an iPad HDMI adapter plug, an e-reader or a classroom projector.
The funds for the laptops and iPads were delivered through the Enhancing Education through Technology program. The success of the initiative is now becoming apparent to educators.
Fifth-grade teacher Keith Hunter told the JC Floridian the new devices “took the learning from the textbook to student-centered, research-driven learning,” and the children are now excited to come to school and make academic discoveries.
