Utah school throws party, proceeds used to buy classroom technologiesThe Washington County School District Foundation, based in Washington, Utah, has long supported local education initiatives. According to the Spectrum, the organization will host a fundraising event aimed at raising both cultural awareness and school funds.

Teachers, parents and students will be treated to a fundraising luau featuring authentic Polynesian dances, reported the news source. The gathering is intended to promote awareness of the many diverse cultures residing in Utah and secure money for school programs.

"We are excited to have something different this year to help raise money for the foundation," Susi Lafaele, a WCSDF board member, told the media organization. "This will be the first time we have organized a luau event. It should be a lot of fun for the public."

The event may raise enough money so teachers can make necessary upgrades to their curriculums and technology resources. Educators looking to pair technology with cultural learning may consider purchasing a webcam to chat with international schools, a high-tech computer or a DLP projector.

Those who show up to the event may stand to gain more than just a new sense of appreciation for different cultures. People who donate $10 or more to the educational foundation will be entered in a prize drawing, according to the Spectrum.
