Classrooms to feature new technologySchoolchildren in Niles, Illinois, will soon get to use the latest in classroom educational technology, reported the Niles Daily Star. Recently, an grant foundation awarded a Niles High School teacher, Alyse Hoyt, with a Student Achievement through Display grant.

The technology grant was provided by the Niles Education Foundation, a group that regularly outfits deserving schools with new electronic tools. The Student Achievement through Display grant program requires schoolchildren and their teachers to construct a multimedia display detailing their successes, according to the news source. Those who are selected will receive $1,000 and the students of Niles High School used the funds to buy a 42-inch monitor and Apple tools for the institution’s graphics arts lab.

Other teachers in the Niles Community can enter their own projects to secure grants from the educational endowment organization. Those who qualify for additional funding may consider purchasing an Apple computer, an interactive whiteboard or a classroom projector.

The news source stated that the education grant aims to “cover the gap” between what is allotted for by school budgets and what is required by teachers in terms of technology aids. With the extra help, Hoyt may soon find her class more engaged than ever before thanks to the new monitor.
